Cyber Chip

Today’s youth are spending more time than ever using digital media for education, research, socializing, and fun. To help families and volunteers keep youth safe while online, the Boy Scouts of America introduces the Cyber Chip. In developing this exciting new tool, the BSA teamed up with content expert NetSmartz®, part of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children® and training expert for many law enforcement agencies.

Netsmartz® has created a Scouting portal showcasing Cyber Chip resources, including grade-specific videos, for each level. Topics include cyberbullying, cell phone use, texting, blogging, gaming, and identity theft.

The Cyber Chip joins the Totin’ Chip and Whittling Chip as important safety tools your Scouts should earn and carry with them.  Find out how you can earn the Cyber Chip emblem by visiting the BSA Cyber Chip website.

The Huey is at the base of the control tower at Buchannan Field (Concord, CA), at the end of John Glenn Dr.  Scouts who participate in the helicopter wash will be able to ride in the helicopter during the parade the next day.  Please note that participation in the Huey wash is MANDATORY to ride in the Huey during the parade the next day.  Scout who cannot attend the Huey wash on July 3rd at 7 PM can march along side the Huey.  All scouts need to be at the parade start at 8:00 AM July 4th. Complete details of the parade will be posted after June 30th.

Location: Sugar Pine Point State Park, Lake Tahoe

SAVE THE DATES!! Sugar Pine Point State Park contains one of the finest remaining natural areas on Lake Tahoe. With nearly two miles of lake frontage, the park has dense forests of pine, fir, aspen and cedar. Deep-line anglers fish the lake's 300-foot deep underwater ledges for trout and salmon. Another attraction is the museum in the Hellman-Ehrman Mansion (also known as Pine Lodge), a summer home built in 1903 in a grove of pine and cedar. Lake Tahoe, at 6,229 feet above sea level, is known for its great depth and clear, exquisitely blue waters. The campground has ample bathrooms and showers and the average high temperature in August is 77° and the average low is 45°.

Avast, me hearties! Spend a night going back in time and experiencing first-hand what it was like to work and sleep aboard a permanently moored turn-of-the-century tall ship. Celebrate San Francisco's maritime heritage and travel back to the "Age of Sail". Try your hand at traditional maritime tasks such as raising a sail, swabbing the deck, rowing a longboat, and riding a bosun's chair into the rigging. Earn your "sea legs" upon successful completion of a night aboard the tall ship Balclutha on Historic Hyde Pier. Great experience for you and your scouts!

See the sign up sheet for detail.
