Step 1 - Register with Scouting America & pay online

For NEW Scouts:

Fill out Scouting America's online Youth Application Form and pay the Scouting America fees online, per below. If not already selected, Pack 1776 is part of "Golden Gate Area Council" and "Meridian District." Please send a copy of your receipt to [email protected].

For EXISTING SCOUTS:

Look out for an email to renew and pay the Scouting America fees directly online to Scouting America (aka BSA) when your scout's current membership is about to expire (up to 60 days prior). For most of our returning scouts, this will be around early Nov. You do not need to re-register with Scouting America, just renew. Please send a copy of your receipt to [email protected].

Scouting America fees:

Total is $170 with Scout Life magazine subscription, or $155 without as from August 1, 2024.
This amount covers your scout's national fee ($85), council fee ($68 before 8/1; $70 as from 8/1),
and optionally, Scout Life magazine subscription ($15) for your scout. 

Note: There was a recent change to the Scouting America-wide membership process that now requires families to pay the national, council, and Scout Life fees directly online. Previously the pack paid this on behalf of the new scout from the pack registration fee. Given this change, the pack registration fee (see step 4) has been reduced to exclude the national, council, and SL fees, as you will pay those online directly to Scouting America.

Step 2 - Complete the Pack 1776 registration

Complete the online Pack 1776 Registration Form.

Step 3 - Submit medical forms

(a) Complete the Medical Form Parts A & B

• For immunization history, we only need the date of the last injection.
• Please indicate if they received full Covid vaccinations and dates.

(b) Provide a copy of the front & back of your scout’s medical insurance card. 

Step 4 - Submit pack payment + volunteer deposit

(a) Submit the pack annual registration fee*, per amounts below, via check to "Pack 1776" or via Zelle** to [email protected]. 

Please note your Scout's name and rank in the memo line.

• $60 per Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, or AOL scout (1st through 5th grades in 2024-2025) — early registration and fully paid by August 25, 2024. 
• $100 per Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, or AOL scout (1st through 5th grades in 2024-2025) — regular registration after August 25, 2024.
• $30 per Lion scout (those who will be in Kindergarten in 2024-2025)

* Discounts apply for scouts whose parents were uniformed or Chair leaders last year.
** For Zelle payments, please email [email protected] and [email protected] with a screenshot to ensure your payment is recorded.

(b) Provide a $200 parent volunteer deposit check, post-dated to May 31, 2025 and payable to "Pack 1776." 
Only one parent volunteer deposit check is required per family. The volunteer deposit is waived for our youngest scouts, the Lions, unless they have older siblings in the pack. Please note your Scout's name and rank in the memo line.
Scouting is a parent volunteer run organization. We cannot do it without your help to provide fun, safe, and enriching adventures for your scouts! We ask each family to volunteer with the pack for a minimum of 10 hours. Upon meeting the minimum volunteer hours, we will shred your volunteer deposit check. We have plenty of opportunities for parents to help out throughout the year!

Where to submit the paperwork and checks?

Bring your paperwork and checks to the first pack meeting (Wednesday, August 28, at 6:30pm at Coyote Creek MPR). Otherwise, you may drop off in a sealed envelope into the pack mailbox inside the Coyote Creek school office during school hours and send an email to [email protected] to inform the pack that you dropped off in the mailbox.

What's included in the annual pack registration fee?

With the annual pack registration fee, your scout will receive a red 1776 patch (for new scouts) for the Class A uniform, a Pack 1776 Class B uniform t-shirt, award belt loops or adventure pins, patches, and expenses for events such as Halloween Party, Pinewood Derby, advancement celebrations, trained leaders, and more. Uniforms and some adventures, patches, and den supplies are covered by families.

Helpful Registration Information & Terms

• We use emails for all of our Pack communication and signups. Please provide an email address that you check regularly.
• Please provide us your cell phone number so we can reach each other during outings. You can enter your other phone numbers on Scoutbook.com.
• All of our scouts and uniformed leaders will receive a Class B t-shirt. Depending on the material, they may run smaller than a traditional cotton t-shirt; we recommend ordering one size larger.
• Let us know your interests and talents. It does not commit you to a role, just help us understand the parent skills and resources available within our pack.

Medical Form Part A & B and Copy of Insurance

• Did you check the “none” box or list participant restrictions on the Medical A form?
• Did both parents sign the Medical A form for the Scout? Page 1, Part A requires 2 parent signatures in the State of California.
• Page 1, Part A asks for people who can take your scout to and from events. If you list names here, no one outside the list can take your child. We suggest writing “anyone from Pack 1776”.
• Did you complete the allergies section? If your scout has a “life threatening allergy” please write it on the top of page 1 with a red sharpie.
• Did you authorize non-prescription medicine (ie Tylenol) and sign if "yes"?
• Did you fill in that last date of the tetanus shot? BSA requires a tetanus shot within the last 10 years.

Further discounts available to registered leaders and certain chairpersons

• We’d love for you to participate as a leader!  If you’re willing to be a trained uniformed leader, we will discount your registration fee by $100; You must complete your BSA Adult Application Form, online Youth Protection training, have all the patches properly sewn onto your uniform, and wear your uniform whenever the scouts wear theirs.  
• Certain chairperson positions may see their registration fee discounted by $50.  
• One discount per paid scout. Registration discounts are only available to those who serve in a qualified position for more than 6 months and remain with the pack until the end of the Scouting Year (June). The discounts are credits paid at the end of the Scouting Year (June) for the following year's registration (i.e. discount given for 2024-2025 registration upon volunteering as qualified leader in 2023-2024 scouting year).

Refund Policy

You have 30 days after registration or until September 11, 2024, whichever earlier, for a full refund of the pack registration fees. After this deadline, we thank you for your donation to support scouting.

Please note that the fees paid online to BSA upon registering as a new BSA member, or renewing as an existing BSA member, is non-refundable, per their policy that you acknowledge upon registration. This includes BSA national youth registration fee, council fee, new member joining fee, ScoutLife charge, and administrative fee.

Acceptance into the Pack

If you signed up during open registration (up to mid September), we automatically accept all boys and girls from kindergarten to fourth grade and fifth graders who earned the Webelos rank by May 31, 2024. Other applications may be accepted on an individual basis and are subject to Den Leader capacity.

After the open registration period, we only accept new scouts with the Den Leader’s approval.
Unless there's room in the current Den, new Den assignment and number is announced after the September Pack meeting.
