Mystery Spot, Pack Hike, and Mount Hermon Adventures.
Mount Hermon Adventures is a multiple aerial adventure courses designed to challenge kids and adults. The course features seven different activities, at heights of 25 feet above the forest floor, with a short zip line descent back to the ground. The cost is $25 per person for two hours and limited to 20 people 5 years and up and weigh between 45–250lbs. Kids under 7 must be accompanies by an adult. Our only available slot is at 10:00 am; those going on this adventure should sign up for the 1:36 Mystery Spot tour.

The Mystery Spot is a gravitational anomaly located in the redwood forests just outside of Santa Cruz. Come experience these phenomena for yourself! Ticket price includes a 45 minute guided tour. There can only be 25 people per tour group so we reserved 3 slots for a total of 75 people; first pay first serve. After the tour, let’s do a 1.5 mile hike and enjoy a spectacular view. If you would like to spend the afternoon at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk or beach, it only 20 min away.

Transition to Boy Scouts
Date: Thursday, October 13th, 2016
Time: 7:30pm - 9:00pm
Location: LDS Church, 5025 Crow Canyon Rd, San Ramon
Arrow of Light parents (no scouts please) should plan to attend the Meridian Roundtable meeting on October 13th. Learn more about the transition to Boy Scouts and meet representatives from Troops in your area.
While joining a particular Troop is generally a Scout's decision, this event will give parents an opportunity to meet briefly with many Troops and narrow down the search on behalf of the Scout. Each Troop has its own personality and areas of extra focus such as: Leadership, Reverence, Outdoor activities, Service to others, etc. and this event will allow parents to find Troops that meet the Scouts interests, family values, and favorable meeting location (i.e., close to home, at my son's future Middle School, or at our Church).
Most families narrow their search to 3 or 4 Troops before they start attending Troop recruiting events.
Bingo Night
Date: Friday, September 23rd, 2016
Time: 5:30pm - 8:00pm (First game starts at 6:30 p.m.)
Location: Coyote Creek Elementary MPR
Cost: $5 (includes bingo, pizza, drinks, cookies and raffle ticket)
Attire: Class A uniform
Once again, Pack 1776 scouts are invited to help call out the letters and numbers during the game.
If your cub would like to call out numbers, you must purchase a ticket. ($5/per person). Your scout must be in his Class A uniform.
Tickets will sell out fast due to a maximum capacity in the MPR.
Kids must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or adult chaperone.

Free National Park Pass for all Fourth Graders
Attention Webelos I cubs ! Did you know that you own millions of acres of national parks, historic structures, cultural artifacts, ancient forests, snow-capped mountains, and clear blue lakes? Our federal public lands and waters belong to all Americans and are waiting for you to explore !
Beginning September 1st, 2016, all fourth graders have access to their own Every Kid in a Park pass at www.everykidinapark.gov. This pass provides free access to national parks across the country.
The Every Kid in a Park pass is good for the 2016-2017 school year, until August 31, 2017.
9/11 Memorial Flag Ceremony
Pack 1776 Families,
Pack 1776 will participate in the opening flag ceremony for Coyote Creek's 9/11 Memorial to be held at 8:45am on Monday, September 12th.
Scouts who want to participate must arrive at the Sundial area behind the office at 8:00am in your full Class A uniform.

October Pack Meeting and Fall Camping

Our October Pack Meeting will be at the Arroyo Flats Campground in Garin Regional Park. Scouts can sign up to camp overnight there after the Pack meeting. The campground has a barbecue, drinking fountain, a fire ring, and chemical toilets (we are only staying one night).
The campsite has capacity for 75 campers. Signup is open now but please sign up only if you can absolutely commit to attend. Please wait if you're uncertain of your availability so everyone has a fair chance to participate.
We only have a limited number of evening parking passes so we highly recommend carpooling. There are only 2 parking spots at the campground which is 1/4 mile from the main parking lot. We will need volunteers to help with logistics to shuttle equipment and young scouts to the campsite. There are also other volunteering opportunities for the pack meeting, click here to sign up.
There is a trail for a group hike and a small stocked fishing pond nearby called Jordan Pond. Bring your fishing poles!
Campers need to bring your own mess kits (plates, utensils, cups), and prepare your own foil dinners at home to cook in our fire pits for dinner the evening of the 15th. The pack will provide a simple breakfast for the morning of the 16th.

2016 Scout-O Championship – Registration is Closed

Deadline: Friday, September 16 at 3 p.m.
Cost: $7 per participant (shadowing adults do not need to pay).

Bring: A compass, a watch, a pen or pencil. Lunch and water. Sunscreen or rain gear.

The Bay Area Orienteering Club is pleased to announce the 24th Annual Bay Area Scout Orienteering Championship, a cross country map and compass adventure designed to test the map reading ability, compass skills and woodsman savvy of any scout regardless of experience.
Cub Scouts of all ages are welcome. No prior experience needed. Instruction will be offered prior to the event so that all Scouts, regardless of prior experience, will be able to take part in the actual competition. There will be courses of four distinct levels of difficulty, so no scout should encounter a challenge beyond his capabilities.
There will not be extra compasses to borrow at the event. Please get a basic orienteering compass and avoid these: iPhone, wristwatch, engineering, surveying, Happy Meal, tritium.
- Most scouts will run in pairs with an adult trailing behind (Course 1). Those who are experienced and confident can choose Course 2 and run in pairs without an trailing adult.
- Instruction will begin at 9:00 AM. The pre-assigned start time of each individual team will be determined by the entry date of our pack. In general, start times will begin at soon after 10:00 AM and go until about noon.
- Every participating scout will earn a patch.
- We need to pre-register with names and how teams will be paired up.
