April “Bike Hike”
Date/Time: Saturday, April 25, 2015, 4:30pm
Location: Sycamore Park and Ride to Hap Magee Ranch Park and back.
Distance: 2.8 miles one way - approx. 6 miles total
Time: Allow 60-70 mins
Attire: Class B uniform
Award: Bicycling belt loop

Trail:
Take the Iron Horse Trail going north starting at Sycamore Valley road. Head on to Camille Ave and bear right. Cross Danville Blvd to head to Hap Magee Ranch Park. Kids can take a break at the park and have some snacks and water and get ready for the journey back. See map below.
What to Bring:
Bikes .. duh !!

Parents:
We would want as many of you bikers as possible. We'd like to maintain a ratio of at least 1 parent biker to every 4 scouts biker. We will be going out in groups of 4 to 5 to avoid clogging up the trail and we would need 1 parent on bike to monitor the group. This trail has a lot of bikers and joggers and we want our scouts to be safe on the trail and we would need a lot of parents on bikes to ensure safety.
We will go over bike safety rules and do a quick helmet inspection before we start. Siblings on bikes welcome.
Absolutely no racing or horseplay permitted.

Upcoming BALOO Training Opportunity
Dear Pack,
Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) is a one-day training event, presented by the council, that introduces Cub Scout leaders and parents to the skills needed to plan and conduct pack outdoor activities, particularly overnight events and camping.
An upcoming training will be offered on April 25th at Camp Fetterman.
To sign up, fill out the flyer and send it in along with payment to our council office. The registration fees are reimbursable by the Pack upon completion of the training. See more info on the Council's website.
Topics include:
- Aims and Purposes, Health and Safety, Planning
- Equipment, Campfire Planning and a Camp Fire Demonstration
- Round Robin sessions on:
- Stoves, Lanterns, and Fire Safety
- First Aid and Sanitation
- Nature Hikes and Games
- Cub Scout Cooking
Completion of this course is mandatory for at least one adult on a Pack overnighter.
Pack Meeting – March 11 – Cake Decorating Contest
Date: March 11, 2015

Hi Everyone,
Our annual cake baking contest is coming up soon on March 11 ! We wanted to pass along the ground rules so that you can be ready to bring in the most spectacular cake you can.
Every Cub Scout (including Siblings) is encouraged to enter a cake in the cake decorating contest! The Cub Scout and an adult should plan, bake and decorate their cake together. Pick one of the categories below and HAVE FUN! Remember this is a project for the kids! The adult should be there to assist, but let the kids have fun creating something wonderful.
RULES:
- Cake check-in will take place from 7:00 – 7:15 pm.
- Do not put any names or den numbers on the cakes. You will be issued a number for your cake when you check-in.
- The entire cake must be completely edible.
- No store bought cakes please. You may use boxed cake mixes, icing mixes or pre-made icing and decorations but you must mix and decorate your own cake.
- Crackers, cookies, candy and other solid foods may be used for decorations.
- A cake may be judged in only one category award and the cake’s appropriate category will be selected by the judges.
Awards will be given for the following CATEGORIES:
- Tallest Cake
- Funniest Cake
- Most Original or Unique Cake
- Most Patriotic
- Most Creative
- Most Appetizing
- Best Sports Theme
- Best Cub Scout Theme
- Judge’s Choice

Attention all Cub Scouts – Bring your PWD cars to the Blackhawk Museum on April 11th, 2015 - there will be Speed Racing, a design competition, an open class and Chartered Organization categories. During the event the whole family can tour the Blackhawk Museum’s magnificent auto collection and other fabulous exhibits (there is a new exhibit called "Spirit of the Old West"). There will be opportunities to learn about summer programs, Cub Scout events, design next year’s (2016) patch, explore the offerings of our scout shop, and much, much more! Wear your full Scout “Class A” uniform and get your whole family into the museum for FREE!

Blue and Gold Videos
We hope you had a great time at the Blue and Gold. A big thank you to the Dagen, Ghatta, Noble, Spears, and many other families for putting together a most wonderful event.
During the hectic evening, a very inspiring and well-made video that Den Leader Scott Spears made of the Webelos II unfortunately did not get shown. The Arrow of Light video is now posted on our website. He did an exceptional job and we absolutely do not want his hard work to go unnoticed. Â We earnestly encourage you all to please watch it and tell Scott how much you appreciate his hard work !
The 2014-2015 video created by Grace capturing our Pack's activities had also been posted. Those of you who missed it will want to watch it as every den is featured.   Also tell Grace how much you appreciate her efforts !

Webelos Naturalist Program in Brentwood

Location: John Muir Interpretive Center 19 Walnut Blvd., Brentwood, CA
Cost: Free
Bring your Webelos out for an adventure. Naturalist John Mottashed will lead your Scouts on a nature hike to complete seven of the 12 Webelos Naturalist Badge requirements: visit a nature center; watch for birds; learn about bird flyways; identify poisonous plants and reptiles; watch at least six wild animals; identify birds and plants that live in our area; learn about the importance of aquatic ecosystems and wetlands. Hello Pack,
This is a special hike for a few reasons: It is a night hike. It is a ranger led hike. It is a fee based hike. It is limited to 17 people so please note the following limitations: Scouts only - No siblings. One parent must accompany his/her scout(s).
Please reply quickly to the Evites as spots are limited. Your RSVP doesn't guarantee a spot until we receive your payment.
The hike lasts about two hours and begins with a ranger-led introduction to nocturnal animals and adaptations of nighttime critters, followed by an easy hike of one to one and a half miles.
Everyone is expected to use their night vision during the program, so please leave your flashlights at home.
