Share the Glory, Show your Pride

In two more weeks, 2010 will come to an end. It is a good time to look back and recap what we have achieved in a year, and I am very happy to share with you the good news that Pack 1776 has once again earned the National Summertime Pack Award and Centennial Quality Unit Award. This marked the fourth consecutive year of the Pack of receiving both of these awards!

I would like to congratulate Cubmaster Emeritus Ed and Committee Chair Emeritus Scott on this remarkable achievement and thank them for their tireless leadership and endless contribution to Scouting.

I would also like to express my gratitude to all the volunteers, parents and Scouts for their commitment and support throughout the years, even when we sometimes appeared disorganized and needed help at the last minute. Without any of you, we would not be where we are and achieved what we have.

To celebrate this monumental accomplishment, every Scout and registered leader of 2009-2010 is entitled to receiving the award patch depicted above. Submit a patch request to your den leader and show your pride by wearing it on the right sleeve of your class A uniform below the den numeral.

When we come back next year, there will be a completely new unit recognition program from BSA.  Are you ready for the new challenges?  Stay tuned.

Bring a Friend – “Despicable Me” Movie Night!!

Reminder: As always, this is NOT a drop-off event, especially for non-scouts. Parent participation IS required.

Pack 1776,

Friday, December 17th, Pack 1776 will host it's first movie night of the year! We will be screening the movie "Despicable Me" at 7pm in the MPR room.

This event is open to everyone and Scouts are encouraged to bring potential Cub Scout recruits to the movie night to show them how fun being a Scout can be! There will be free popcorn, drinks and a raffle for a copy of the DVD "Despicable Me". Every Scout that goes to movie night will be entered into the raffle. Scouts will get extra entries into the raffle for each recruit they bring.

Class B uniforms (maroon, glow-in-the-dark tshirts) are acceptable for this event or Scouts can choose to wear their Class A uniforms.

Evite to follow. I look forward to seeing you there!

Las Trampas Hike Wrap-Up

Las Trampas hike was an arduous and annoying hike due to the excessive mud. The mud slowed us down, yet the Scouts finished this hike in 2 hours and 20 minutes a record hike when you consider that the recommended time for this tough 4.6 mile hike is 3 hours!

I would like to congratulate the following Scouts for completing the hike:

* Austin S - Tiger (!!!!)
* Morgan J - Wolf
* Andre B - Webelos I
* Jacob K - Bear

Jacob also invited  two friends: Josey J, Webelos & Jerry J, Bear.

* Alex also joined the hike with Cubmaster Macey.  They were far behind us and decided to take a long detour ending the hike at 5:00 PM.

I am totally impressed by all the Scouts who took on the challenge today.

Check out the pictures at the Pack photo site.

We will sort, package, and distribute food to the community. This is not just a Go-See-It. We will GO-DO-IT and get our hands dirty (Well, just a metaphor, you know. CCLF Craft Boutique – Scout Volunteers Needed – 12/10/10

Pack 1776,

On Friday December 10th, the Coyote Creek PTA is hosting the CCLF Holiday Craft Boutique in the MPR and they have asked for our assistance with this event.

We will need 3 to 4 scouts from 3pm to 5 pm and 3 to 4 Scouts from 5pm to 7pm. We will also need at least 2 adult leaders for each time period. If you are able, you can volunteer for both time slots.

Scouts will be announcing raffle winners and making and serving (and eating) popcorn. It should be a ton of fun!

Let me know if you are interested in helping and make sure to wear your class A uniforms since this will be a great recruiting event.

Please pass this on to any interest Webelos families and tell them to contact me if I can provide any more information. Also, there's lots more information about Troop 60 at www.danvilletroop60.org.

Anyone who is interested in Troop 60 is welcome to attend one of our Troop meetings Monday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30pm at Diablo Vista Middle School. Due to the holidays, our next meetings will be Jan 10 and 17.
