Memorial Day Weekend Flag Planting – RSVP by tomorrow

Pack 1776,

As a reminder, we are participating in a Memorial Day grave decoration this year at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno on Saturday, May 28th. This is typically one of the most meaningful events of the year, given the importance of the holiday and direct involvement the scouts will have in honoring our nation's fallen heroes. The ceremony will begin promptly at 8:30am and we will likely be completed with the flag planting by 10:30am.

Please take a moment and RSVP for this event so we know how many patches to order for our pack. You can do so through the evite link below:

For more information, please see the attached PDF. Should you have any additional questions, please let me know.

B-I-N-G-O Night – “B” There, Fri Feb 24

Hi Everyone,

Just a friendly reminder that coming up is the Coyote Creek PTA's annual bingo night.

Every year, we, the cubs of Pack 1776, are invited to help with the games, by actually calling out the letters and numbers at the big games. We team up with the Girl Scouts as well.

Committee Chair Steve Jackson and I will Emcee the event, and provide the tracking of the event, and we want as many scouts to come as possible, to join in the fun.

In the Friday Folder at school, you should have received the invitation to RSVP for the evening. The cost is $5 per attendee. If you are going, and want to join Steve and me, you must let us know (watch for an Evite), and wear your fancy class A uniforms. Move quickly, however, because the event sells out quickly.

Now is your chance to stand on the stage at the MPR, and talk through the microphone. Good training for you future game show hosts (or rock stars!) in the pack.

See you soon,
Cubmaster John

Here is the note from the Coyote Howler:

Used Bikes Needed

News from Meridian district:

Do you have a bike that is no longer being used and just collecting dust? Or perhaps you have a friend or neighbor that might have one. Ryan Mahoney of Troop 805 is collecting bikes for his Eagle Project. The project includes repairing bikes and then donating them to several nonprofit agencies in our county. If you have a bike to donate or if you or your scouts would like to help clean and repair bikes in late November and December, contact Ryan Mahoney at [email protected] or C: 786-0640.

Hello Pack 1776

Next Sunday, the Exchange Club of San Ramon Valley is holding their annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony, and this year marks the 10th anniversary. Every year, the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts are invited to participate. Last year, our Pack 1776 boys participated in the Flag Ceremony, for a memorable and moving experience.  I will be there and would be honored if any of the Cubs and Leaders would participate in the ceremony.

We will send out an official Evite shortly. Please respond as soon as you can, so that I may give them an approximate head count of 1776 Cubs. Class A uniforms are required.  More details here.

Thank you,
Cubmaster John

Flag Planting Recap

A huge thank you to the loyal scouts who traveled all the way to the Presidio in San Francisco to honor our fallen soldiers and veterans on Memorial Day weekend. Each scout assisted with the “planting” of an American flag at the headstones of the military cemetery, joining other Cub Scout packs from all over the Bay Area.

Our Scouts included:
Aidan L
Alex E
Dylan W
Emmett L
Ethan M (and his sister Zoe)
Hayden C
Jack P
James S
Joshua K

Each scout earned a special Memorial Day patch for their efforts.

This is truly one of the most meaningful acts of community service our boys can perform.

It’s a Great Weekend for Scouting!

Tomorrow, Pack 1776 will join hundreds of Scouts from all over the Bay Area, and thousands across the country, to pay tribute to those who served.  We will be planting American flags at the San Francisco National Cemetery.  It is a great honor for Scouts to have such meaningful opportunity and learn citizenship outside of the classroom.

On Sunday and Monday, we will be selling cotton candy at the San Ramon Art and Wind Festival.  Besides a lot fun and the opportunity to serve the community, this is the biggest fundraiser for our Pack.  Success in previous years has allowed us to enjoy luxuries including state-of-the-art pinewood derby tracks, powerful camp stove, a diverse program, and of course, low membership fees. Thank you to those who signed up to volunteer.  For those who hasn't yet, sign up is available online.  If you are in town, come by and join us for the fun event.  Our booth is at the Alcosta Food Court along Alcosta Blvd (see map).  Hope to see you all this weekend.

Meanwhile, some "tips" for the den leads to keep the boys under control. 😉 Happy Scouting.
