Family Scouting: Girls Welcome!

We are excited to announce that our Pack is open to boys and girls. By welcoming girls into the program, even more youth will have access to the character development and values-based leadership that Scouting promises.

Lions: Kindergarten Age Youth Come Try it Out!

We are celebrating two years of participation in the national Lion program!  As a Lion, your kindergartner will make friends, laugh loud, gain confidence, discover nature, and most of all…have fun.  A kindergarten-age boy or girl and his or her adult partner join and attend meetings and activities together.  Recognizing how Lions are integral to the success of our program and to introduce them to the world of Cub Scouting, the Pack has discounted the normal registration fee to $75.00 and waived the volunteer deposit.

Flag Planting at Presidio of San Francisco

Date: Saturday, May 26, 2018
Time: 8:45 am to 11:30 am (We start promptly at 9 am.)
Location: San Francisco National Cemetery, 1 Lincoln Boulevard, San Francisco, CA 94129

Attire: Full Class A uniform, footwear suitable for walking on wet grass.

The Memorial Day Weekend Flag Planting event will be held at the San Francisco National Cemetery in the Presidio. Each year scouts from across the Bay Area meet to help prepare the cemetery for the Memorial Day weekend. The ceremony starts with a flag ceremony and then an address by a veteran. The scouts then spread out across the cemetery and place American flags in front of every grave site.

The cemetery contains the graves of more than 35,000 veterans and their family members dating back to the 1846 war with Mexico.

It's a worthwhile event that reminds our Scouts of the sacrifice many have made to make our country what it is today. Flag planting is incredibly important to our nation, it shows us all that these sacrifices will never be forgotten. There are many ways in which we can all show our solidarity at this time and at all times. Businesses may want to look into getting a flag pole for sale from websites such as flagpolesetc.com so they can display one outside of their business, storefront, etc. It is a delicate and heart-wrenching time for all, but together our show of strength in all of us will keep the country going and always remembering.

All leaders and scouts should be in full uniform.

The ceremony will begin promptly at 9 am.

Friends of Scouting

On March 14, 2018, Pack 1776 will be kicking off our participation in the Mt. Diablo Silverado Council’s Friends of Scouting annual giving campaign.  Friends of Scouting represents the council’s largest source of income.  What does the Council provide?

  • Volunteer and staff training
  • Insurance coverage to protect volunteers, chartered organizations, staff members and properties
  • Support staff for registration, publications and other program support
  • Camp promotion for Cub Scout day camps, Boy Scout summer camps, high-adventure bases and more
  • Camp rangers to keep the council camps up-to-date and ready for Scouts and families
  • Camp equipment, like tents, cooking equipment, camp vehicles, building repairs, canoes, equipment replacement and repair, and general upkeep of council camps
  • Recognitions for leaders who complete training, volunteer for special projects and help in many Scouting roles
  • Professional staff to work with volunteers to organize new units, manage fundraising programs, conduct training, assist membership recruitment, provide counsel and direct support for district, camps and programs
  • Administrative needs, including postage, computers and links to the National BSA computer system, copy machines, folding machines and a printing shop
  • Service centers to provide additional support to volunteers
  • Audio-visual supplies used in training, at camps and in volunteer meetings
  • Postage to mail materials to leaders, parents and youth members
  • A council website to keep you informed
  • Reference publications and resources, including program planning kits and to camping cookbooks
  • Camp scholarships, uniforms and registration fees for disadvantaged young people

As you can see, there’s more happening at your council than the average volunteer sees. And it can’t happen without the support of volunteers like you.
