Mt Diablo Camping

Date: November 5th 3pm to November 7th 12 noon
Location: Mt. Diablo State Park, Barbecue Terrace group campground (directions) (campground map)
Cost: $15 per person per night
RSVP via evite

Pack 1776,

Come join us for a wonderful fall weekend camping at Mt. Diablo. On a clear day, from the summit of Mount Diablo State Park visitors can see 35 of California's 58 counties. It is said that the view is surpassed only by that of 19,000-foot Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. With binoculars, Yosemite's Half Dome is even visible from Mt. Diablo.

We have reserved the best group camp site (BBQ Terrace) that accommodates up to 50 people. Space is limited, so please don't miss out on this wonderful camping experience so close to home.

As always the cost is $15 per person per night. Checks made out to Pack 1776 must be received by me in order to secure your spot.

Look for an eVite!

Reminder: Orienteering this Sunday

Hi Scout Parents,

We have our orienteering event coming up this Sunday. I have attached lots of info, as well as a park map and sample orienteering map. Though the map on Sunday should be of higher detail. Please read the info document or pass it on to the parent who will be planning to come on Sunday.

There are two ways to get to the Bear Creek Staging Area where we'll meet, one a bit longer but easier. The other is shorter but curvier with a narrow road. I will leave it up to you to decide the best way to get there.

Since the weather will be warm, please be sure to bring a hat, water and snacks. Your scout will be hungry after the race. It would be nice if your scout could wear his burgundy Pack 1776 shirt.

I won't know our actual start time until later. I'll let you know. Please email me if you have any questions.

Please don't forget $5 per car for parking, $5 per scout, and $5 per parent or pair (mom & dad) of parents.

See you there. Thanks. 🙂

Popcorn Drive Schedule

Our Show-and-Sell Popcorn Drive at Gale Ranch Safeway is coming up and the schedule is posted below. When selling popcorn, make sure the following:

  1. If you are the first den for the day, den leaders, please arrive about 10-15 minutes early to help set up.
  2. A Den leader, Assistant Den leader or designated leader must be present at the time of the shift.
  3. Parents should not just drop off cubs and leave. They should supervise their child.
  4. Cubs should be in full Class A uniforms
  5. You will need to keep track of what was sold and which cub worked the shift. There will be a binder with a tally sheet that will help you keep track of this information. Each den will have their own section in the binder.
  6. Customers can make cash donations, if they don't want to buy popcorn. There will be an envelope for this in the cash box.
  7. Customers can make donations to the military. There will be an envelope for this in the cash box as well.

Marksmanship Day Wrap Up

It was a cold and foggy morning last Saturday, but Camp Herms was packed with excited Cub Scouts awaiting for the start of Marksmanship Day.

Our pack has 14 scouts attended the event. 3 in archery. 11 in BB-gun shooting.

Archery
Jack P, Varoon K, Warren H

BB Shooting

After 4 hours of training and practices, the scouts learned a lot about safety and techniques in shooting.
