2016 Popcorn Show and Sell

Does your scout need to practice his public speaking, good manners, or accepting rejections gracefully? Selling popcorn is a great way to practice all these skills! Our Popcorn Sale will be at Draeger's (4100 Blackhawk Plaza Cir, Danville) again this year for 3 consecutive weekends, starting on September 10th. On that first weekend (September 10th and 11th), we will also be at a brand new location - Peet's (11000 Bollinger Canyon Rd Ste. A, San Ramon) !

Please sign up on SignUpGenius!  Sales earned at the store, along with your individual sales to friends and neighbors, all count toward your scout's Trails End Prizes!

Parents and shift leaders who want to accept credit card payment, please email our Pack Treasurer Silvia Yeh with your name, email, den number, and your Scout's name. Please also download the free PayAnywhere app to your smart phone:
.

Lastly, be sure to read these instructions.  If you’re the first or last shift, you must pick up or return the popcorn and cash box at Suma’s home. Wear Class A uniform!

Please view the training video below to see how easy it is to go out there and get people to support cub scouting!

Design Your Own Class B

Want to help decide the Class B shirt design for next year?  Click here and ask your scout to pick his favorite

  • design (SP#)
  • shirt color, and
  • ink color

Submit the above combination to Grace. The Pack Committee will review all submissions and decide in August - your scout’s design may be chosen! Submissions due by July 30.

Great News ! Your scout will be getting a new type of dri-fit (wicking) shirt which is more comfortable and breathable. It even has antimicrobial treatment ! These shirts, however, have a more limited set of color selections. Note that if you went in design mode and click the select garment color button, the many colors in that menu are not all available for the wicking shirt. Only the colors below are. So submit only from the colors listed below as your shirt color (be mindful of ink color & shirt color interaction).

Black Cardinal Carolina Blue Charcoal Gold Irish Green Navy Orange Purple Red Royal Safety Green

On the day of the event, please check in with Grace Dagen and stay with your scout until the parade starts at 9:00 A.M. Leaders in uniform will lead your scout in the parade and meet you at the end of the parade route at Sycamore Valley Boulevard (near Piatti’s restaurant), where you can pick up your child. Assume one hour from start for our scouts to reach the finish point. DO NOT leave with your child until you have signed out with Grace!

If you have a Lion or Tiger scout, Grace can give you a Class B shirt so you can be in the parade with him. Please contact her in advance. We have a limited number of yellow Class B shirts left; first RSVP, first serve.

Note that many roads, including parts of Danville Blvd, Railroad Ave., Love Lane, La Gonda Way, Hartz Ave., and Sycamore Valley Road will be closed from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Here’s the best way to get to our meeting area.

Pack 1776 Registration (2016-2017)

Registration is now Open to Returning Scouts !
Registration is considered complete after the following have been submitted:

Online Pack Registration form

Payment of $125 (early bird discount ended 6/9/16.)

A $200 check (post dated to 4/1/2017)

The Pack Mailbox will be removed from the Coyote Creek office before noon on June 9th so plan accordingly.

New Scouts registration begins 8/1/16. Please also submit the following in addition to the above 3 items:

BSA Youth Application (NEW Scouts Only)

Answers to two frequently asked questions:

  1. Yes, you still need to submit a separate post-dated check for $200, even if you plan to take on a key role like Den Leader, Cubmaster, or Pack Committee. It simplifies our job when everyone follows the same rule. We will return the checks to the volunteers around February or May, depending on when you completed your 8 volunteer hours.
  2. Yes, you must complete a new waiver and medical form Part A & B even through you submitted one last year and nothing changed. It’s a BSA rule. Your scout needs them to participate in all of our scouting activities.

Thank you!

2016 Art & Wind Festival – Cotton Candy

Date/Time: May 29-30, 2016, 9:30am - 6:30pm (2 hour timeslots)
Location: Booth #832, by the tennis courts.
Attire: Class A uniform
RSVP: SignUp Genius

It’s that time of the year again! We are asking the entire Pack 1776 Cub Scout family to participate in our annual Cotton Candy Fundraiser at the San Ramon Art & Wind Festival.

Pack 1776 gets a major funding boost from this event and we definitely need volunteer support from all of our dens.

To ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to participate, please note the following guidelines:

1) At least one parent is required to be with their scout but the entire family is most welcome to join the fun.
2) Each shift must have at least 1 Scout Leader and no more than 4 scouts inside the booth.
3) Remember to maintain a Scout attitude. Don't forget that you are all perfect 1776 Gentlemen. Always thank those we have asked and always wish them a good day, have the proper attitude, demonstrating good manners and conduct.

June Bike Ride

Date/Time: Saturday, June 4th, 2016, 10am - Date Changed !
Distance: about 6 miles or 10 miles total
Time: Allow 60-90 mins
Attire: Class B uniform
Award: Small biking theme gift (bell, light, whistle, or something else)
Meeting Point: Sycamore Park and Ride Lot
Contact: Hiking Chair Siddharth Bhatia
RSVP: Pack Form

Let's meet at the Sycamore Park and Ride and ride north towards Alamo on the Iron Horse Trail. We will go over bike safety, road safety rules, and inspect bikes before we ride. Route specifics will be sent closer to the date. We plan to have two routes.

Younger scouts can ride up to Camille Ave and turn right to go into Hap Magee Park. Older scouts (Bears and Webelos Is) are invited to ride ~2 miles further north to Ridgewood Road where there is a nice sculpture garden, then ride back and join the younger scouts at Hap Magee park. We play in the park for a while and then ride back to Sycamore Park and Ride. Younger scouts will ride about 6 miles and older scouts will do 10. The 10 mile route will be optional and if there is no interest we will all do the shorter ride. We would need parent volunteers and expect each child to have an adult chaperone on a bike. Each adult can chaperone up to 4 scouts on bikes. Siblings are welcome to attend.

The first Merit Badge my elder boy scout chose is the Cycling Merit Badge.  He will be required to complete a 50 mile bike ride to earn it. I therefore highly encourage our Webelos I scouts to attempt the 10 mile ride to prepare for the upcoming Boy Scout adventures.

Thanks, Sid
