Pack 1776 Families,
Come to the Coyote Creek Bingo Night on Friday, September 27th and be a part of the action.
All scouts who come in Class A uniforms will have an active part in Bingo night by spinning the wheel, pulling balls, and calling out numbers!
Always a great time for scouts and parents alike.
Note: RSVP to eVite is to indicate your scout's desire to help at Bingo night. Tickets are $5 and must be purchased through the Coyote Creek Online Registration & Community website before the event.

It has only been a couple days and we have already had 3 pack events! Pictures are available at the Pack photo site. If you have more pictures to share, please do! Viewing and upload instructions can be found here. Email the webmaster if you need passwords!
In the coming weeks, some of our webelos will join hundreds of scouts from around the bay area at Webeloree in El Cerritos. We'll also be around the neighborhood selling popcorns, and helping out at the school's bingo night.

The Jamboree On The Air/Jamboree On The Internet (JOTA/JOTI) is an annual event in which Scouts all over the world speak to each other by means of amateur radio contacts or the Internet. Scouting experiences are exchanged and ideas are shared. Modern communication technology offers Scouts the exciting opportunity to make friends in other countries without even leaving the state.
Activities include:
- Participating in the JOTA via Amateur Radio
- Participating in the JOTI via the Internet
- Morse Code Game
- Cub Scouts: Earn the Computer Beltloop
- Boy Scouts: Radio Merit Badge Workshop or Computer Merit Badge Workshop

9/11 Memorial Ceremony at Coyote Creek
Hi Pack 1776 Families,
Coyote Creek Elementary has invited Pack 1776 to participate in the opening flag ceremony for their 9/11 Memorial that they are planning to have at the school this coming Wednesday morning, September 11th.
For those cubs who want to participate, you must arrive in front of the school office at 7:30am so that we can practice and know where we need to be before ceremony. If you don't see us, we will be practicing at the SunDial area behind the office. All scouts who participate must wear their full Class A uniforms. They can change into class B shirts or regular clothes after the ceremony, if they want.
Please RSVP to me by Sunday evening so that I can get an estimate of interested cubs .

Marksmanship Day
Date: Saturday, October 19, 2013

Cost: $20 per scout, $5 per adult. Lunch included. $5 late fee per person after September 30th.

Awards: Participation patch, Archery or BB Shooting belt loop and pin
Bring: Warm clothes.
Note: This event always fills. Register early.
The Cub Scout Academics and Sports Program is an optional program for all Cub Scouts. Its purpose is to encourage the Scouts in learning new skills, or improving one they already posses. Cub Scouts can earn belt loops and pins in 25 academic areas and 28 different sports. Among them, the shooting sports loops and pins (Archery and BB-gun Shooting) can only be earned through Council-led events, under BSA trained supervision, and at a BSA facility range.
Marksmanship Day is one of such Council events and the next one is coming up on October 19th. Registration can be made online at the Council website. Make sure to wear your Class A.
And special this year, JOTA will be held on the same day at the same site! So you can attend two events in one trip. Detail and registration info will be coming soon. Stay tuned!
Note: Shooting sports belt loops can be used toward Wolf electives 20c and 20n, part of Bear requirement 23c and Bear electives 20.

School is about to start and we are all set to kickoff another great Scouting year. Come and join us at Coyote Crossing Park on Sept 7th and pick up your new Class B tee shirt. All paid scouts will automatically enter our raffle of goodies!
Webeloree Registration Opens This Week
Attention Webelos den leaders and parents,
Online registration for the September 21-22 or October 5-6 Webeloree will open on August 15th. This popular overnight camping event for 4th & 5th graders and their parent can fill up in less than a week, so don’t procrastinate!!! Go online at http://www.bsa-mdsc.org/events/cub-scout-events/webeloree and sign up on August 15th to enjoy beautiful Camp Herms and earn four activity pins (Forester, Geologist, Naturalist, Outdoorsman). Yosemite Camping Trip Recap
Pack 1776 Families:
This year our Pack headed to Yosemite for our summer camping trip. We stayed two nights at the Tuolumne Meadows campground. The campground is located on the Tioga Road in the east side of the park.
On our first day at the park we visited Soda Springs. The Springs are located an easy hike away from the campground. The Scouts crowded around to watch the water slowly bubble out of the ground. On the hike back to camp a couple Scouts dipped their feet (and other parts) into the Tuolumne River.
That night there was a camp-hosted campfire for the Scouts, another campfire where the Scouts learned about owls, and a late night of star watching for those that could stay up past 9:30 p.m. They also learned about a Coyote sound so they could be prepared if anything went wrong. Late in the night, some campers heard a bear near our campsite. Nothing went missing from our site as all our food was securely stored in the bear boxes provided by the park. There were lots of gorgeous motorhomes and a lot of people had RV's and it made me really want to buy one! I don't think I could ever afford to buy one outright but RV Rental is certainly an option for the future. There's something exciting about sleeping in a tent but camping out in an RV would be so luxurious. Something that I'm definitely not used to when I go on camping trips! Luxury and tents are two words that never go together!! I was told that if you do a lot of traveling with your RV then it might be a good idea to make sure that your RV battery is properly fitted/charged. Some fellow camper also reccomended that if I wanted to get a Motorhome, it would be important to use a reliable insurance firm. If you are travelling around the country in a camper, be sure to check out One Sure Insurance for information on the benefits of ensuring a camper!
On Sunday the Pack took a hike to the top of Lembert Dome. It was a steep, but short, hike. We took the hike with a Ranger who stopped from time to time and told the Scouts about the history of Yosemite. By the time we made it to the top of the dome we had climbed over 600 feet to an altitude of 8,800 feet. The views were spectacular!
Sunday afternoon was free time. Some Scouts went fishing (no luck!), others took in a park lecture or went swimming in the river. The water was crystal clear, not too cold and there was even a natural "water slide" the Scouts could use. The Tuolumne River feeds into the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir.
The campsite had another campfire and lecture on Sunday night. Some Scouts stayed at our campsite and recovered from a day of fun. Once everyone was back at the campsite we all had s'mores.
Monday morning we packed up our gear, cleaned our campsite and headed home. Everyone had a lot of fun, learned about Yosemite, and became more responsible Scouts. Please try to join us the next time our Pack goes camping.

All Cub Scouts and their families and friends are invited to this fun event, held on August 10th, 10am-2pm, at the Martinez Marina Waterfront Park. There will be kite flying, glider racing, water bottle rockets and many other fun activities for the whole family! Only $15 for a Cub Scout, $5 for each additional sibling that wants to participate.
