At the pack's first monthly pack meeting, you'll get a preview of the scouting year ahead, meet new Den Chiefs, meet fellow Scouts and parents, as well as have your Scout's photo taken by Pack Photographer Vijay, and learn all about how to sell premium popcorn from Assistant Cubmaster Jimmy and Popcorn Kernels Ravi and Chris. New dens will appoint their Den Leaders. Scouts and Leaders wear Class A uniform for the official photos. Those who do not have their uniforms yet will get another photo op at a later date. Plus, each den will have a fun hands-on activity while they get to know each other.

Getting there
From I-680, exit at Sycamore Valley Road in Danville. Follow Sycamore Valley Road for 1.5 miles, then continue on to Camino Tassajara. Turn left onto Sherburne Hills Road, then turn right to find parking.
The hike
Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 1 h 5 min to complete. This is a very popular area for birding, hiking, and mountain biking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
Scouts and participating siblings will receive a patch.

Pack 1776 invites you to build your own rocket, launch it and have a blast! Learn about Cub Scouting and all the fun things we do.
You can now sign up online for Cub Scouting and invite friends to join too!
All scouts must:
1. Complete the online Pack 1776 Registration Form
2. Complete the Medical Form Parts A & B
3. Make a copy of the front & back of your scout’s medical insurance card.
4) Registration check written to Pack 1776. Write your Scout's name in the memo line.
- $280 for Tiger, Wolf, Bear or Webelos scouts (First through Fifth grades in 2022-2023). Prices are even lower if you sign up to volunteer as a leader or chairperson. We only accept Fifth graders if they have completed and earned the Webelos I rank.
- $200 per new Lion scouts (those who will be in Kindergarten in 2022-2023).
- NOTE NEW SCOUTS: There was a recent change to the BSA website that requires new scouts to pay the national fees up front. Previously the pack paid this on behalf of the new scout from the pack registration fee. Given this change, we can no longer do this. As such, pay the national fees online using your credit card and then deduct that amount from the $280 (or if a new Lion, $200) pack registration fee when preparing your check.
5) A separate $200 volunteer deposit check per family, post-dated to 4/1/2023. Write your Scout's name in the memo line. We will hold onto your check and shred it after you have completed 10 service hours.
Mail or Drop off your completed paperwork to the Scout Box inside the Coyote Creek School Office.
Family Scouting: Girls Welcome!
Our Pack is open to boys and girls. By welcoming girls into the program, even more youth will have access to the character development and values-based leadership that Scouting promises.
Lions: Kindergarten age youth; Come try it out!
We are celebrating five years of participation in the national Lion program! As a Lion, your kindergartner will make friends, laugh loud, gain confidence, discover nature, and most of all…have fun. A kindergarten-age boy or girl and his or her adult partner join and attend meetings and activities together. Recognizing how Lions are integral to the success of our program and to introduce them to the world of Cub Scouting, the Pack has discounted the normal registration fee to $200 and waived the volunteer deposit.

Pack 1776's annual membership fee includes the cost to register with the Boys Scouts of America, the Council Program Fee, a one year subscription to Scout's Life magazine, a Pack 1776 Class B uniform t-shirt, award belt loops, pins and patches and expenses in events like Halloween Party, Pinewood Derby, campouts, etc.

Danville 4th of July Parade
The Kiwanis-Danville Parade will take place on Monday, July 4th, 2022 from 9am-noon in downtown Danville, California. This year's parade theme is Celebrating our local Olympians to recognize our local community members who have taken part in the Olympic movement.
When: Monday, July 4, 2022 at 7:45am
Where (map): Downtown Danville — Banners will start after the police and fire department at the beginning of the parade and end at Town and Country Drive just past the grandstand.
Meeting point: Corner of Railroad Avenue and Love Lane (Staging Area F) in front of the big tree at the San Ramon Valley High School
Wear: Class A uniform, including cap, sunscreen, comfortable shoes for walking
Bring: Water in reusable water bottle, light snacks

Pack 1776 (Bib #512), as well as other Scouts units, will participate by carrying a 20-foot banner toward the front of the parade. Everyone in the pack will walk together, behind a single banner. Depending on the number of Scouts and parents participating, we may be able to take turns holding the banner.
The banner will have a pipe that bends in the middle so the banner can be bent back to form a forward pointing arrow in areas that have pinch points. We will have a spotter to look out for restaurant “parklets” that encroach into the street especially after Diablo Road.
Please ensure that your Scouts and participants follow safety and parade rules, and directions from orgnizers and peace officers.

Parking is available at several municipal lots including:

Given the expected crowd size, parking in or near the downtown Danville area will be very limited and alternative travel arrangements such as walking or biking are strongly recommended. Parade-goers may consider parking at the Sycamore Park & Ride parking lot and use Iron Horse Trail to walk to the downtown Danville area. Accessible parking near the parade route is available at the Crossroads Shopping Center located at Hartz Way and San Ramon Valley Blvd. in the back by JD Academy Of Salon + Spa. Accessible seating along the parade route will be offered at the grandstand viewing area at Oak Court and San Ramon Valley Blvd. A golf cart shuttle will be available to transport individuals to the viewing area from the Crossroads Shopping Center.

The banners start after the police and fire department at the beginning of the parade and end at Town and Country Drive just past the grandstand. At the corner of Town and Country Drive and San Ramon Valley Blvd., turn right. There will be a sign several hundred feet up the drive on the left side where we will drop off the banner. We will remove the pipes, roll up the banner, and leave it at the sign. Scouts and parents are free to leave at that point, or stay in the crowd to enjoy the floats and the rest of the parade.
While the entire parade will take 2.5-3 hours, it typically takes about 40 minutes or so to walk the entire distance.
Parade details
The Kiwanis Club of San Ramon Valley has organized and conducted the annual Kiwanis 4th of July Parade in partnership with the Town of Danville since 1975. The parade attracts 30,000-40,000 spectators each year and is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate America's birth.
The Parade will take place along Hartz Avenue and San Ramon Valley Boulevard from approximately 9am to noon, starting at San Ramon Valley High School at Railroad Avenue.
To improve logistic management, the Parade route will be modified to end at Town and Country Drive. This adjustment will allow for a simplified street closure which improves logistic management for the Town and Kiwanis, and allows employees, customers, and residents to easily access neighborhood shopping centers and homes off Boone Court.
The parade can be seen from either side of the street and there is always plenty of room for everyone!
May 28: Flag Planting at the Presidio

Please join us for the annual flag planting event at the SF National Cemetery in the Presidio. Hundreds of Scouts of all ages and their families will help plant thousands of flags at the National Cemetery in preparation for the Memorial Day event.
It's been the pack's annual tradition to participate. This is typically one of the most meaningful service events of the year, reminding our Scouts the sacrifice many have made to make our country what it is today. RSVP to get included in the pack's headcount.
Scouts and Leaders must be in full Class A Uniform. Friends and family are welcome. The ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00am, and we will likely be completed with the flag planting by 11:30am. Following the flag planting, the Council typically hosts a small lunch (to be confirmed for 2022). Scouts who participate earn a patch.

May 22: Bike Hike
Celebrate National Bike Month with a bike ride for our monthly hike.

Location: Iron Horse Trail from Crow Canyon to Richard Fahey Village Green Park and back.
Distance: 4.6 miles one way; 9.2 miles total
Time: Allow 2-2.5hrs total

The entire famliy on bikes welcome!
We will go over bike safety rules and do a quick helmet and bike inspection before we start. Absolutely no racing or horseplay permitted.
Trail (map): Starting at Crow Canyon Road, take the Iron Horse Trail going south, and head to Richard Fahey Village Green Park. We'll take a break at the park and have some snacks and water and get ready for the journey back.
