2013 Art & Wind Festival – Cotton Candy

It’s that time of the year again! We are asking the entire Pack 1776 Cub Scout family to participate in the sales of our Cotton Candy Fundraiser at the 2013 San Ramon Art & Wind Festival.

In an effort to ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to participate, please note the following guidelines:

1.) At least one parent is required to be with their participating scout in this fundraiser but the entire family is most welcome to join and have fun.

2.) Each shift must have at least 1 Scout Leader present. There will be no more than 4 scouts present inside the booth during any shift.

3.) Try to remember to maintain a Scout attitude while participating in this fundraiser. Don't forget that you are all perfect 1776 Gentlemen. We should always thank those who we have asked and always wish them a good day, to encourage proper attitude demonstrating good manners and conduct.

The Bay Area Orienteering Club is pleased to announce the Twentieth Annual Bay Area Scout Orienteering Championship, a cross country map and compass adventure designed to test the map reading ability, compass skills and woodsman savvy regardless of experience.  Note that this year's event is not being held at Briones Regional Park! The assembly area will be at the Lake Anza parking lot (37.896618,-122.252316) in Tilden Regional Park. There's a map here that shows the location of the event.

Cub Scouts of all ages are welcome.  No prior experience needed. Instruction will be offered prior to the event so that all Scouts, regardless of prior experience, will be able to take part in the actual competition.  There will be courses of four distinct levels of difficulty, so that no Scout should encounter a challenge beyond his capabilities.  Be prepared and head over to BAOC's website for sample maps and instructions.

Important information can be found in this document.  Here are the important points:

- Scout need to run in pairs with an adult trailing behind.
- First team of all the scouts attending will run at 10 am.  Start times are spaced 2 minutes apart and by course.  Start times are set by event organizer.
- Every participating scout will earn a patch.
- We need to pre-register with names and how teams will be paired up.

Sign up by Wednesday and contact event coordinator Susan Kim if you have any questions.

Scout Day at Sonoma Raceway

Calling all Scouts,

It’s that time of year again when Scouts from all over California come together to cheer on their favorite Indy Car driver. This year we are again offering free tickets to all uniformed Scouts and Scout leaders.

Like last year we are giving the Scouts an opportunity to raise funds for their pack or troop. We will be selling $20 discount tickets (reg. $55) to all family members and friends that would like to attend the race. For every $20 fundraising tickets sold Sonoma Raceway will give half ($10) back to the troop or pack that sold it. The money will be tallied after the race is over and we will send checks out to all troops and packs who participated in the fundraiser. If you would like to purchase fundraising ticket go to: www.racesonoma.com/scouts. Find and click on your council and then your pack.

This year the GoPro Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma will be Sunday August 26, 2012.

Feel free to call me with any questions.
